Free Pony Racing Academy for teenagers

If you are between 11 and 15 years old and can walk, trot and canter unaided you can apply to join a free pony racing academy with the British Racing School. You don't even have to own your own pony!

The British Racing School in Suffolk are offering teenagers between 11 and 15 years of age the chance to learn how to race on the BRS Academy ponies. This scheme aims to encourage young talent into the racing profession and provides youngsters with the chance of a lifetime.

The academy starts at the end of June 2012 and will take place every Saturday for 12 weeks, what better way of spending your summer! The BRS will select 3 lucky youngsters who apply to the academy. They will:
  • Learn how to race on the ponies
  • Learn how to care for a pony
  • Learn the rules of racing
The BRS will use their three new pony racing academy ponies alongside their racehorse simulators and video reviews to help tutor the youngsters. The lucky three may also get the chance to take part in a pony race at the end of the 12 week academy.

You need to be:
  • Physically fit
  • Able to walk, trot and canter a pony unaided
  • Between the age of 11 and 15 years
  • Be able to attend the academy every Saturday for 12 weeks starting at the end of June
