Horse Insurance Costs Could Drop

According to a recent report, the government is considering amending the Animals Act so that horse owners are only liable if they have been negligent. The change in the act will mean that if a horse owner takes 'reasonable precautions' they will not be held strictly liable if their horse causes damage to a third party. If this amendment gets passed it will be good news for horse owners, who in theory should see a decrease in their horse insurance premiums. 

DEFRA is consulting on the proposal to amend the act, responses will be received by 19th June 2009 - we will keep you posted!
